This week, two of the work readiness skills that I applied positively in my internship at Aegis Assisted Living was dedication, tolerance and respectfulness. I always show willingness to help out around and interact with the residents (elderly). I always ask what more I could do with the residents or around the workplace. I am also very tolerant of the grumpy residents who yell at one and am very respectful when doing so. I am very respectful to the residents and my co-workers. When talking to my co-workers I show respect and dedication because I nicely ask what more I could do to help them.
Something I have to work on is my communication skills. At my internship you have to speak louder to the residents because some can not hear well. I sometimes struggle with talking very, very loud and clearly. This holds me back because it means I have to take more time during talking activities like bingo, finish the phrase, and hangman. I believe that this is definitely something that I can improve over time, more practice and lots of water, lol.
It's really great that you've been able to use your work readiness skills positively. I understand how you feel when talking to a more mature audience. Working on your communications skills will greatly improve them. You have got this.
