After high school, I know that I want to go to college at some point. I don't know if I want to go right away, or take a gap year to travel. Traveling has always been a huge part of my life and that is something that I might want to pursue a little bit more before I go right ahead into more school. I have also been thinking about studying abroad after high school. Which means I would be traveling and getting college credits all at the same time; that would be ideal.
After the gap year and I return, I think I want to major in Psychology. Three jobs that require a psychology major are a youth and student counselor, a social worker, and a research psychologist. The YOUTH AND STUDENT COUNSELOR:
Average Pay in California: $31,000
From the research that I have done, and the websites that I have looked at, the salaries don't change geographically
To be a Youth Counselor in a Counseling Office (corporate or private), it requires a lot of schooling. Most require a masters degree majoring in either Psychology or social working.
Personality Traits required: Caring, dedicated, genuine, fair, comforting, being a "people person," and sincere.
SOCIAL WORKER:
Average Salary in California: $55,000
A bachelor's Degree (4 years) in Social Working or with a major in Psychology, sociology, human resources, or theraputic recreation. Then a 2 year graduate education. Masters Degree in Social Work.
Personality Traits Required: loves to work with people, kind, helpful, empathetic, handles stress well, good listener, drive to help others, protective, intelligent, and practical.
RESEARCH PSYCHOLOGIST:
Average Pay in California: $75,000
Masters Degree Required
Personality Traits Required: agreeable, Caring, dedicated, genuine, fair, comforting, being a "people person," and sincere.
These all seem like jobs that I might want to look into :) I love helping people, and this is a great way that I could do so.
I like that you are keeping your job options open
