On Wednesday I worked at the Health Hub in San Rafael which is when they distribute the food to families in need. I arrived on time and followed instructions well. It was a really rewarding experience to see how happy the people in line were to be receiving the food. Even though some of the vegetables were less than perfect looking, something I would usually reject, the people were very appreciative.
I didn't run into too many problems however there were a few. On Tuesday at the office I had been helping the man load the food and when he left on his first round of delivery I didn't really have anything else to do. When he left I was assigned to clean the refrigerators with Windex and a paper towel. It didn't really seem like this was a good use of time when there were many more crates to load. I could have been more assertive and told the supervisor I should continue to load ice chests while the man was gone.
Another obstacle I ran into was on Wednesday when I was supposed to be at the Marin Community Clinic at 2 o'clock. I didn't really take into consideration I had no idea where it was located. It wasn't until the last minute that I decided to look up directions. I got there on time however I was really stressed out driving there when I had no idea where I was going.

ReplyDeleteIt seems that it is more of the supervisor's fault rather than yours, as it is his job to efficiently manage the situation. Being assertive is not on the list, although it could fall into the category of "Acts with diligence". Anyways, perhaps the cleaning job was more important than loading crates for some inobvious reason. Long story short, you do not have to feel too ashamed for doing that job.
i agree with joseph. just keep listening you will gain his trust. like he said maybe it was more important than loading crates for a reason
